MESSAGE FROM THE

SARGENT FAMILY

Late last August, the Cinnabar Foundation took another leap forward in its evolution — a board retreat. While most of the organizations we serve periodically hold retreats, this was Cinnabar’s first in its 25-year history. Sitting in a circle, remembering and sharing memories about my parent’s vision and the start of the Foundation, was very moving and made us all realize how very far not only Cinnabar has come, but the environmental consciousness throughout Montana and the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.

With renewed enthusiasm, dedication and collective vision, I and my fellow board members embrace the future. We are optimistic about where Cinnabar is heading and how we can be even more responsive to the needs of our constituents in the future.

My family and I want to recognize the tremendous job Jim Posewitz has done in stewarding the Foundation, especially in the last decade since the passing of my parents. And, while it is sad to see him step down as executive director, we all are delighted and relieved that he will remain on the Board of Directors.

We look forward to developing an equally powerful relationship with the next executive director who undoubtedly will bring fresh ideas, broadened perspectives, and a sense of what needs to be and can be done to further preserve and protect this “last best place.”
